On June 6, the production facilities of Sichuan Comet Aluminum Co., Ltd. in Dangling Economic Development Zone hummed with activity. CNC production lines operated at full capacity as aluminum rods underwent precision extrusion molding before entering cooling age-hardening furnaces. The subsequent surface oxidation, spraying treatment, and automated cutting processes involved over 300 workers meticulously fulfilling production orders.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Comet Building Materials Group, the company ranks among the top three aluminum manufacturers in Southwest China. Its product portfolio includes architectural aluminum profiles, industrial aluminum extrusions, and high-end system door/window profiles. The group has reported impressive performance this year, achieving nearly 500 million yuan in output value—a 10% year-on-year increase.
Quality Assurance Through Advanced Testing
While production lines operate at maximum capacity, the company’s newly established testing center ensures product quality through rigorous analysis. Engineers meticulously examine samples using spectral analysis equipment that detects magnesium, silicon, copper and other elemental compositions. The center’s 99 testing parameters provide comprehensive quality control and process improvement capabilities.
“Since its commissioning last year, the testing center has equipped 71 advanced instruments,” explained Peng Bo, the laboratory director. “We’re currently pursuing CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) certification, which would grant international recognition to our testing results and significantly enhance product competitiveness.”
CFO Yuan Jun revealed additional expansion plans: “In the second half, we’ll initiate smart factory construction to upgrade our manufacturing capabilities and ensure annual targets are met with premium quality standards.”
Heavy Machinery Manufacturer Expands Capacity
Elsewhere in the industrial zone, Sichuan Chuanyun Heavy Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. faces similar production demands. The company’s premises display rows of semi-trailers and fire trucks ready for shipment to Yunnan, Chongqing and other destinations—a testament to its growing market presence.
“Our production schedule extends through November, and we’ve nearly exhausted storage space,” remarked production manager Yue Hongzhong while coordinating vehicle logistics. Specializing in R&D and manufacturing of semi-trailers and specialized vehicles for logistics and forestry firefighting applications, the company has sold over 500 semi-trailers in the first five months of 2024 alone, achieving 71.4 million yuan in total output value—a remarkable 51.4% annual growth.
Technological Upgrades Enhance Precision Manufacturing
To address production bottlenecks from increasing market demand, Chuanyun Heavy Industry has prioritized technological upgrades. The company recently installed Sichuan’s first 2000-ton intelligent hydraulic bending machine, reducing edge beam processing tolerances to within 3 millimeters—a significant precision improvement over previous 800-ton equipment.
“This advanced equipment represents our commitment to manufacturing excellence,” Yue emphasized. “The precision gains directly translate to product quality and customer satisfaction.”

The success stories of Comet Aluminum and Chuanyun Heavy Industry reflect broader economic trends in Dangling County. Local authorities have implemented comprehensive business support measures, including one-to-one enterprise liaison services, to achieve ambitious “triple 10-billion” development targets (10-billion industry, 10-billion enterprise, 10-billion industrial park).
